Good and Great Papers Can Be Made Using Feminism
Good and Great Papers Can Be Made Using FeminismWhy do you use feminism in your research paper? It's a question I've been asked many times by students. So, in this post I'm going to explain why you should incorporate feminism into your research.Firstly, feminism is the belief that all human beings should be treated equally, which translates to: I deserve equal pay for the same work. And, it's also: There are no roles for men and women in society. And, lastly, it's: I deserve to have a say in how society should be run. It's important to understand this, because the beliefs of feminism can affect everything you do in your research. For example, when writing your research paper it's time to decide where the focus will be. What are you looking for? Are you researching about men and women who have made different choices in life? How does that affect those who make those choices? Does it affect the roles they play in society? What is the way the world sees itself now? Do we view modern men a nd women as equal, or do we see them as still being trapped in roles they've been born into? Feminism is about seeing these roles differently and recognizing that men and women in society now have different roles. It's easy to see why men might struggle with the concept of feminism. They're used to being told they're 'less than' and when you start to challenge this, you're upsetting the status quo. But that's not to say that feminism is unbalanced or unfair to men. We need men in the world too, and sometimes it's just easier for us to see the world through their eyes.Often research papers address societal issues such as sexism. A study, for example, might be examining how gender stereotypes affect school students. If you are writing a paper on gender roles, then the proper use of feminism can make a big difference to the results you get.If you do decide to use feminism in your research paper, don't expect that everything you write will be based around it. Just understand that it can make a difference in the way you approach your topic, and by thinking more critically about the way you write, you can make the paper more effective. This doesn't mean you stop applying common sense though. Some students find that the application of feminism is daunting. In my experience though, this is usually because they haven't put any thought into the topic at all. By using feminist ideas in your research paper, you can really make the difference between good and great papers.
